Ichiro Hamakawa currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at JCB Co., Ltd. (JCB), the only global payment brand based in Japan effective June 26th, 2014. Mr. Hamakawa joined JCB in an advisory capacity in May 2014 from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, where he was Senior Managing Director, Chief Planning Officer. In his 36-year career, he has held a wide range of leadership positions primarily in corporate planning, including Executive Officer and General Manager at UFJ Holdings, Managing Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive of Retail Banking Business Unit at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, and Managing Director Chief Planning Officer at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
