Paredes, the former president and director of Indonesia’s Bank Danamon succeeded DBS’s Amy Yip as CEO for Hong Kong, DBS' second most important market after Singapore, in 2010. A banker for 25 years, Paredes has successfully built franchises across multiple markets throughout his career. Prior to Danamon, Paredes spent 20 years at Citi, with stints in South America, Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. During his five-year stint at Bank Danamon, Paredes successfully solidified the bank’s position in retail, SME and commercial banking, and made inroads into new businesses such as consumer finance and micro lending. With these develioments, he helped double the bank’s loan book, more than double its customer base and grew revenues by more than 240%.
