Li heads Hong Kong’s home-grown Bank of East Asia (BEA) established by his family. He has been with the bank for over 40 years providing strong leadership to the bank through various crises such as a bank run in September 2008 and an internal fraud incident. He is also considered a pioneer in building Bank of East Asia’s presence in China: BEA acquired AIG’s wealth management business in Taiwan in 2009 and also inked a deal with ICEA Holdings, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China’s investment bank, in 2010.
