Am Kaur was appointed as Group Chief Risk Officer in January 2020 and assumed Compliance responsibility in June 2021. She holds the position of Group Managing Director and is a member of the Group Executive Committee at HSBC. Joining HSBC in April 2013 as Group Head of Internal Audit, she later took on roles including Head of Wholesale Market and Credit Risk. Ms. Kaur's career began in internal audit at Citibank after qualifying as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young. With extensive global experience in audit, business, compliance, finance, and risk management across various financial institutions, she has also served in leadership positions such as Global Head of Group Audit for Deutsche Bank and Chief Compliance Officer at Citigroup International. Ms. Kaur holds an MBA in Finance, a BCom (Hons) from Panjab University, India, and is a Fellow member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. She also serves as a non-executive Director of abrdn plc.
