Soong currently serves as group chief risk officer at Hong Leong Bank Group. He was promoted to this position after Hong Leong Bank Group’s acquisition of EON Capital Berhad, the parent company of EON Banking Group. He joined EON Banking Group in 2010 as group chief risk officer and executive vice president from the RHB Banking Group where he initiated, designed and led the Group’s Basel II program in the same capacity. From 2001 to 2005, he was a practice leader with KPMG’s financial risk management practice where he was managing consultant and associate director. Soong was also responsible for practice protection of KPMG’s advisory business in Malaysia.
